The EuroGEO Green Deal Data Space Action Group (GDDS-AG) is a forum to coordinate the activities of the projects contributing on research and development towards the realization of the GDDS. The key recommendation for the GDDS-AG is to monitor emerging technologies that can be beneficial for the GEO infrastructure to support technical and semantic interoperability between the GDDS datasets, with GEOSS, Destination Earth, Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem, INSPIRE, and European Open Science Cloud platforms.
Highlighting the GDDS-AG member projects such as OEMC (Open-Earth-Monitor Cyberinfrastructure) and SAGE (Sustainable Green Europe Data Space), use cases in forest monitoring are presented to enhance data interoperability by integrating remote sensing, in-situ observations, and biodiversity indicators, which are key to decision-making for forest management and biodiversity conservation. The main challenges and opportunities of data integration at different spatial and temporal scales are addressed in relation to the implementation of the GDDS.
